A Letter From Prison Accounting Essay

A Letter From Prison Accounting Essay Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) is a software company which sells software products for business. In the case, according to the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, revenues for the software licensing should be recognized once a contract was signed, the software was delivered, and payment was reasonably assured. In Computer Associates, when the revenue recognition principles were met, it recognized the whole value of the licensing revenues quarterly. However, from the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 1988 to the second quarter of the fiscal year 2001, Computer Associates has backdated some contracts and allows it accountants to record these contracts in the present financial statements. In accordance with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, these contracts should be recognized in the next quarter. The future revenues which have recorded in the present financial statements lead to the higher profits and return on investments currently. What Computer Associ ates does is in the violation of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. What Computer Associates haves done is a kind of ethical elitism and ethical parochialism. Ethical elitism means that it is significant to maximize the interest of the top stratum or the elite no matter what to scarify and the ethical parochialism refers to that it is important to protect the interests of the individuals in-group. The executives of Computer Associates take their effort to recognize the revenues against the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in order to protect the reputation of the company and meet the analysts estimation and make the investors confident to the company. However, the investors and shareholders cannot make a good decision by using the improper financial statements. In the case, as the former senior manager of the Computer Associates, Richards try to defense against the crime which makes him in jail. Richards considers that Computer Associates lacks of the information to justify whether the accounting operation in Computer Associates is legal or not. As to him, it is not a big deal for doing this and it is just a timing issue in the revenue recognition. Nevertheless, the revenue recognition in Computer Associates is against the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Computer Associates recorded the future revenue in the current financial statements to make the company seems to be profitable. The main function of the financial statements is to show how the company operates and offer the information about the company to the managers and investors. The financial statements are the tools in helping the managers and investors to make the decision. Computer Associates cloud the investors and shareholders about its accurate sales revenues within the current quarter. By using the inaccurate financial statements, strategies and investment are made incorrectly. From the Exhibit 4 in the case, the percentages that properly recorded revenue was inflated by improperly accelerated revenue in every quarter from 2000 to 20001 were all above 10%. Moreover, there are large differences between the announced EPS and EPS without improperly recognized revenue in every quarter from 2000 to 2001. The announced EPS were much higher than the EPS without improperly recognized revenue. Comparing to the analyst EPS estimated, Computer Associates cannot reach the analyst EPS estimated without improperly recognized revenue which is mentioned before. In order to make the financial statements more profitable, Computer Associates use the improper recognized revenue method to make the company seem more profitable. It is unethical for Computer Associates to use allowed accounting flexibility for its revenue recognition. What is accounting flexibility? Accounting flexibility refers to the process that the accountants use their knowledge of accounting rules and standards to manipulate the figures in the financial statement in order to meet some specific purposes. It is about the transformation of the figures in the financial reports from actual figures to the figure which were needed by the preparers, by taking the advantages of the accounting rules and standards. (Naser, 1993). It can help the management to manage the reported figures to be higher or lower. Examples of accounting standards which can use accounting flexibility are as follow: The revaluation of the assets. While in estimation of the assets current value through the depreciation, the estimations are usually made inside the business. It is subjective for the company to estimate the value of the assets. The management has the opportunity to estimate the value on the side of caution or optimism. When doing the estimation in the value of the assets, it refers to the change of the assets, depreciation expenses and the impairment losses. Therefore, the measurement of the assets and income change. The fair value recognition of the plan asset. According to IASB, fair value is defined as the market-based value. It means that the fair value of the plan asset is on the basis of the market transaction. it can be manipulated. When changing the fair value of the plan asset, changes will be recorded in the financial statements. Q2. Richards mentions how difficult it is to operate in the grey areas of accounting and indicated that he might have benefitted from more guidance from senior management. Critically indicate who in a listed firm is responsible for the content of the final accounting reports. Corporate governance is the processes, structures and information which use for coordinating the relations in the management of the corporation. It guarantees the efficiency and the accountability for the mechanism in the corporation to protect the interests of the shareholders. Good corporate governance can help the company to create good corporation culture. The corporation culture creates through the process of the management practices and values which directly come from corporate governance. As in the company, the responsibilities of the major office holders are as follow: Implementing the strategy of the company to make the company operation in the healthy way. Advising the board about the structures of the company and making sure the quality and the quantity of the staff in the company. Providing the accurate information about the company to the board and making the proper prediction for the company. Preparing the accurate financial statements within the Generally Gccepted Accounting Principles In the company, the management should take the responsibility for the accounting reports which is in accordance with the IFRS adopted in Australia. The management should make sure the financial statements are fairly present the financial position and performances of the company. In addition, management must guarantee the financial statements with the accounting standards and prevent them to being fraud. In IFRS 8, management must consider that the most recent pronouncements of other standard setting bodies that use a similar conceptual framework to develop accounting standards, other accounting literature and accepted industry practices. Even though accountants prepare the financial statements in company, the management determines in what ways the financial position illustrate and whether make changes in the financial statements. In conclusion, the management is responsible for the content of the final accounting reports. In Computer Associates case, as a senior manager, Richards did not take his responsibilities to correct the manipulation of the revenues in the financial statements and applied to the sales-driven culture in Computer Associates. He paid more attention to the sales and the revenues in the company. Therefore, with the support of the management included Richards, the improper revenue recognition method was implemented in the company. As for me, possible alternatives can be taken as follow: Changing the accounting policies. The company can use the legal way to manipulate the revenues. For instance, Computer Associates can change the depreciation calculation and change the allocation of the research and development expenses within the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles to reduce the expenses so that the profits can be higher. Changing the time of the transactions. It is helpful for delaying the expenses and the anticipation of the income, which will avoid fighting against the law and the accounting standard. Changing the terms of manipulation. Within Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, some other terms relative to the profits of the company can be manipulated in legal ways. For example, the calculation of the doubtful debts and allowance for uncollectible accounts. Changing the closing date policy of the sales target. As it is mentioned in the case, the customers use delaying tactics to negotiate with Computer Associates to get the better deal. Large proportions of the contract are booked in the final week of the quarter. That makes Computer Associates hard to recognize these contract in the current period and it makes Computer Associates to backdate the contracts. Changing the closing date policy of the sales target is helpful. Computer Associates can short the period for the sales target. For example, it can be closed monthly so that the contracts can be recognized in time. Q3. Consider managements incentives and choices in their actions. What are Computer Associates motivations to manage earnings and the financial ratios as represented in the accounting statements? Internal motivations As Richards mentions in the letter, the company culture in the Computer Associates is a sales-driven culture. It means that the more you sell, the more commissions you can get. The culture leads the company to be aggressive in operation. The goal of the company is to make profit as it can so that it can maximize the shareholders benefits. In addition, the compensations of the executives are on the basis of the sales. The executives would have high compensations when sales associates have reached the goals. According to a study of Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1983 by Healy, there is a high possibility for choosing and changing accounting procedures in a sales-driven culture with bonus schemes. It is easily to manipulate the accounting figures to maximize the bonus awards. The study also that it is high incidence of voluntary changes in accounting operations in years following the adoption or modification of the bonus reward plan. In Computer Associates, it is so attractive to get the high quantity of compensations by manipulated the revenues. What is more, in Computer Associates, performance in business is a vital criterion. Non-performance is not acceptable in the business. Performance in non-revenue areas should be paid less attentions. In order to perform well, it is reasonable for Computer Associates to manipulate the improper revenue. External motivations The main reason for Computer Associates to manipulate the revenues is to meet the expectations of the market. According to the study of Kasznik and McNichols, the consequences of not meeting the expectations lead to lower future earnings, lower share price, lower market premium and penalization of the markets. Therefore, for Computer Associates, the motivations in order to meet the expectations can be concluded as follows: Future earnings. It is about the stakeholders. The Computer Associates needs to enhance its reputation in their stakeholders, such as distributors and customers. High earnings in the financial reports make the stakeholders more confident for the company. Therefore, the stakeholders would like to do business with the company. Share prices. According to the study of Amat, Blake and Dowds, the accounting flexibility can help to boost the share prices of the company and make the company appeared to less risks for the investors. From the Exhibit 4, it is obvious to see that the EPS without improperly revenue recognition is much lower than the expectation. That means the market will decrease the share price for Computer Associates because of the low revenues. In order to change the situation, Computer Associates should manipulate the revenues to meet the expectations to maintain or increase the share price so that the confidence of the investors can be enhanced. The analysts. As it is mentioned in the case, investors gain information about investments from the analysts instead of the company. The main method which Analysts gather the information about the company is to analyze the financial reports. If the company fails to meet the expectation of the market, the analysts will doubt about the companys future earnings and the credibility. Computer Associates do not want to make the analysts feel doubtful about the companys development so that it tries to manipulate the revenues to meet the expectation of the markets. Q4. All issues related to revenue eventually affect the calculation and recognition of income. Making specific reference to the Comprehensive Income Project initiated by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), carefully outline the concept of income that has been proposed by this project and the major issues highlighted. According to IASB, income refers to the increases in the benefits in the accounting period in the form of increases of the assets or the decreases of the liabilities which lead to the increase in equity. Comprehensive income is the changes in equity in a period of transactions and other events and circumstances from sources which are not owned by someone. All the changes in equity should be included in comprehensive income while the investment by owners and distributions to owners should be excluded. Comprehensive income is the sum of historic transaction income and unrealized fair value of the other items. For the historic transaction income, it refers to the entitys income during an accounting period which relative to the companys operation. In IFRS 13, fair value is the value which can be received when selling the assets or paying to transfer a liability in fairly transaction between knowledgeable and willingness parties. Fair value measurement defines as a market-based measuremen t and it is not an entity-specific measurement. Hard income refers to budgeted income that should be recognized during the operations and soft income is the actual income which recognized after the operation. In 2004, a Joint International Working Group on Performance Reporting was established (IASB 2004a). It is helpful in Comprehensive Income Project to establish the standards of the comprehensive income presentation in financial reports. (IASB 2005b) Comprehensive income requires the entity to present all the items relative to income and expense during the period. One single or two statements are accepted. When the Accounting Handbook 2009 was released, the definition of comprehensive income was published. However, income statement was still useful. Therefore, there is a confusion that as the income statement is useful, it seems the comprehensive income approach is quite inconsistent. The comprehensive income requires all the changes in the revenues and expenses and the disclosure items haven been changed. Q5. Critically review and provide an overview summary of a minimum of at least two (2) academic research papers that asses the price relevance of comprehensive income. Show how this research may have influenced subsequent releases and changes in focus by the IASB. In the study of Biddle and Choi, they focused on the debate about the fundamental definition in accounting, the comprehensive income and the consideration of IASB relative to the question. In order to justify those issues, information content, predictive ability and executive compensation contraction were used to examine. The study drew a conclusion that different definition of income makes different decisions and applications and disclosing separately comprehensive income components is useful for making decision. This study is the first study to examine this kind of issue. Another study which had done by Cahan, Courtenay, Gronewoller and Upton, suggested that, to some extent comprehensive income more value relevant than net income. Nevertheless, when doing the asset revaluation increments and foreign currency translation, the effect of comprehensive income was weak and there was no benefit in reporting the separate components of comprehensive income. In conclusion, as for the authors, in the comprehensive income approach, some information was useless, which lead to the comprehensive income did not really benefit the investors. As in a study of comprehensive income, Hanlon had the similar opinion with Cahan, Courtenay, Gronewoller and Upton. In Hanlons study, he mentioned the value relevance of mandated comprehensive income disclosures and discussed whether to choose reported in comprehensive income basis or reported in net income basis. He found that there is no evidence to support the value relevance which would be affected by the comprehensive income. Thus, he suggested that components of comprehensive income were not really value relevant after the controlling for the net income. From my point of view, after reading three essays above, IASB need to focus more on the uses of comprehensive income which IASB makes the entity to report. There are many differences between the different situations so that it leads to different adoptions. Revenue recognition is quite complex. IASB should do more researches to find out whether to use the comprehensive income approach or not when facing different situations.

Platos Concept Of Justice Essay -- Philosophy Philosophical Essays

Plato's Concept Of Justice ABSTRACT: In his philosophy Plato gives a prominent place to the idea of justice. Plato was highly dissatisfied with the prevailing degenerating conditions in Athens. The Athenian democracy was on the verge of ruin and was ultimately responsible for Socrates's death. The amateur meddlesomeness and excessive individualism became main targets of Plato's attack. This attack came in the form of the construction of an ideal society in which justice reigned supreme, since Plato believed justice to be the remedy for curing these evils. After criticizing the conventional theories of justice presented differently by Cephalus, Polymarchus, Thrasymachus and Glaucon, Plato gives us his own theory of justice according to which, individually, justice is a 'human virtue' that makes a person self-consistent and good; socially, justice is a social consciousness that makes a society internally harmonious and good. According to Plato, justice is a sort of specialization. Plato in his philosophy gives very important place to the idea of justice. He used the Greek word "Dikaisyne" for justice which comes very near to the work 'morality' or 'righteousness', it properly includes within it the whole duty of man. It also covers the whole field of the individual's conduct in so far as it affects others. Plato contended that justice is the quality of soul, in virtue of which men set aside the irrational desire to taste every pleasure and to get a selfish satisfaction out of every object and accommodated themselves to the discharge of a single function for the general benefit. Plato was highly dissatisfied with the prevailing degenerating conditions in Athens. The Athenian democracy was on the verge of ruin and was ulti... ...refore, be like that harmony of relationship where the Planets are held together in the orderly movement. Plato was convinced that a society which is so organized is fit for survival. Where man are out of their natural places, there the co-ordination of parts is destroyed, the society disintegrates and dissolves. Justice, therefore, is the citizen sense of duties. Justice is, for Plato, at once a part of human virtue and the bond, which joins man together in society. It is the identical quality that makes good and social . Justice is an order and duty of the parts of the soul, it is to the soul as health is to the body. Plato says that justice is not mere strength, but it is a harmonious strength. Justice is not the right of the stronger but the effective harmony of the whole. All moral conceptions revolve about the good of the whole-individual as well as social.

The American Family: Then and Now Essay -- Sociology, American History

What exactly is a family? Some would say it is a father, mother, and possibly children, but is this an outdated definition? With the world adapting and changing at such a high rate, it proves difficult to create definite boundaries for what constitutes a family. As events that are either detrimental or beneficial to society occur, family lives adapt to better suit the current state. The differences in culture, religion and traditions can offer possible explanations for why families are not the same, locally and globally. Sociological relationships change to fit the people involved in them, so it only makes sense that family groups would differ by location. This paper will discuss the ways that families in America have evolved over time. Also, I will explain what occurrences caused the need for such changes. The comprehension of any new concept starts with a basic definition. According to Macionis, family is a â€Å"social institution found in all societies that unites people in cooperative groups to care for one another, including children† (2009:375). The diversity of families in America dates back to the colonial period. There were a variety of different family types that coexisted or competed in colonial America (Coontz 2005: 27). In this time period, the husband would work all day and leave the children at home with the mother. The mother, however would rarely tend to the children. She would do house work and leave the children with an older sibling or servant. This caused a lack of sentimental feelings in childhood because the mother was not the nurturer. Coontz states that among wealthy, white families specifically, the basis of the relationship was built on power, not love (2005: 28). The modernization and industrialization ... ...order for America to continue as a successful country, there will need to be strong family units who are prepared to face the downfalls that will come due to a changing government and economy. The success rates of a family, however, are much deeper than economic or government issues. Hard work, compassion, and communication are components that can be seen in almost any successful family at any time period. In striving to achieve these aspects of a family unit, America’s families would find much more stability than previously seen and be better equipped to face hard times. Prostate Cancer Life Experiences Health And Social Care Essay

Each twelvemonth in the UK around 10, 150 dice from prostatic malignant neoplastic disease. Prostate malignant neoplastic disease decease rates peaked in the early 1990s and have since fallen by around 20 % . Variation in incidence rates around the universe and within states, suggests that hazard is affected by ethnicity. In the UK, black Caribbean and black African work forces have about two to three times the hazard of being diagnosed or deceasing from prostate malignant neoplastic disease than white work forces, while Asiatic work forces by and large have a lower hazard than the national norm. The purpose of this systematic reappraisal is to set up what is meant by prostate malignant neoplastic disease and the life experiences of patients with prostatic malignant neoplastic disease undergoing intervention. To accomplish these aims, with the aid of the PIO formatted inquiry, research surveies will be searched from different databases, from specialist diaries, cyberspace, and gray literature, in-touch with writers and from manus seeking. With the aid of two research workers with a 3rd individual to cover with confliction sentiments, informations will be extracted from the published surveies, which will be themed and differentiated with colour codifications. It will be analyzed consequently with the aid of standardised signifiers. From this reappraisal, nurses will understand what prostate malignant neoplastic disease agencies and they will happen it easier to cover with these patients when they are faced with this sort of state of affairs.Chapter ONE: Background1.1 Specifyin g equivocal footingsThe prostate is a secretory organ in a adult male ‘s generative system. It makes and shops seminal fluid, a milky fluid that nourishes sperm. This fluid is released to organize portion of seeds. The prostate is about the size of a walnut. It is located below the urinary vesica and in forepart of the rectum. It surrounds the upper portion of the urethra, the tubing that empties piss from the vesica. If the prostate grows excessively big, the flow of urine can be slowed or stopped. To work decently, the prostate needs male endocrines ( androgens ) . Male endocrines are responsible for male sex features. The chief male endocrine is testosterone, which is made chiefly by the testiss. Some male endocrines are produced in little sums by the adrenal secretory organs. Prostate malignant neoplastic disease is a malignant tumour that arises in the prostate secretory organ. As with any malignant neoplastic disease, if it is advanced or left untreated in early phases, it may finally distribute through the blood and lymph fluid to other variety meats. Prostate malignant neoplastic disease occurs about entirely in work forces over age 40 and most frequently after age 50. Two-thirdss of prostate malignant neoplastic diseases are found in work forces over age 65. By age 70, approximately 65 % of work forces have at least microscopic grounds of prostate malignant neoplastic diseases. Fortunately, the malignant neoplastic disease is normally really slow growth and older work forces with the malignant neoplastic disease typically die of something else. As they do for most malignant neoplastic diseases, physicians use the TNM system of prostate malignant neoplastic disease phases. The prostate malignant neoplastic disease phases are described utilizing three different facets of tumour growing and spread. It ‘s called the TNM system for tumour, nodes, and metastasis. T stands for tumour ; it describes the size of the chief country of prostate malignant neoplastic disease. N stands for nodes ; it describes whether prostate malignant neoplastic disease has spread to any lymph nodes and to what extent. M stands for metastasis ; it means distant spread of prostate malignant neoplastic disease, for illustration, to the castanetss or liver. There are other ways of sorting prostate malignant neoplastic disease, such as the Gleason system. Sometimes, the TNM system and Gleason mark are combined together to depict prostate malignant neoplastic disease phase. In phase I, prostate malignant neoplastic disease is found in the prostate mere ly. Phase I prostate malignant neoplastic disease is microscopic ; it ca n't be felt on a digital rectal test ( DRE ) , and it is n't seen on imagination of the prostate. In phase II, the tumour has grown inside the prostate but has n't extended beyond it. Stage III prostate malignant neoplastic disease has spread outside the prostate, but merely hardly. Prostate malignant neoplastic disease in phase III may affect nearby tissues, like the seminal cysts. In phase IV, the malignant neoplastic disease has spread ( metastasized ) outside the prostate to other tissues. Stage IV prostate malignant neoplastic disease normally spreads to lymph nodes, the castanetss, liver, or lungs. Accurately placing the prostate malignant neoplastic disease phase is highly of import. Prostate malignant neoplastic disease phase helps find the optimum intervention, every bit good as forecast. For this ground, it ‘s deserving traveling through extended testing to acquire the right prostate malignant neoplastic disease phase.1.2 Types of prostate malignant neoplastic diseaseThere are many types of prostate malignant neoplastic disease and the status is frequently present in many different parts of the prostate. The precursor to prostate malignant neoplastic disease is known as prostate intraepithelial neoplasia, this is besides found in many different locations within the prostate. Although there are many different sorts of prostate malignant neoplastic disease the huge bulk ( around 95 % ) are of the type known as glandular cancer. As this is the most broad spread from it has become synonymous with the term prostrate malignant neoplastic disease.AdenocarcinomaThe most commo n site of beginning of prostate malignant neoplastic disease is in the peripheral zone ( the chief glandular zone of the prostate ) . The term glandular cancer can be split up to deduce its significance. Adeno means ‘pertaining to a secretory organ ‘ , whilst Carcinoma relates to a malignant neoplastic disease that develops in epithelial cells. The term epithelial merely relates to cells that surround organic structure variety meats or secretory organs. aldara and basal cell carcinomaSmall cell carcinomaThis sort of malignant neoplastic disease is made up of little unit of ammunition cells, and typically signifiers at nervus cells. Small cell carcinoma is really aggressive in nature and as it does non take to an addition in prostatic specific antigens it can be slightly harder to observe than adenocarcinoma ; this normally means that it has reached an advanced signifier upon sensing.Squamous cell carcinomaThis is a non glandular malignant neoplastic disease, like little cell carcinoma there is no addition in prostatic specific antigens when this is present. Squamous cell carcinoma is really aggressive in nature. There are other, more rare, signifiers of prostate malignant neoplastic disease these include sarcomas and transitional cell carcinoma ; the latter seldom develops in the prostate but derives from primary tumours present in the vesica or urethra.1.3 Symptoms and experiencesSymptomsThere are no warning marks or symptoms of early prostate malignant neoplastic disease. Once a malignant tumour causes the prostate secretory organ to swell significantly, or one time malignant neoplastic disease spreads beyond the prostate, the following symptoms may be present: A frequent demand to urinate, particularly at dark. Trouble get downing or halting the urinary watercourse. A weak or interrupted urinary watercourse. A painful or firing esthesis during micturition or interjection. Blood in piss or seeds. Lower back hurting Pain with intestine motion These are non symptoms of the malignant neoplastic disease itself. Alternatively, they are the symptoms of the obstruction from the malignant neoplastic disease growing within the prostate and environing tissues. Symptoms of advanced prostate malignant neoplastic disease include: Dull, ceaseless deep hurting or stiffness in the pelvic girdle, lower back, ribs or upper thighs ; creaky hurting in the castanetss of those countries. Loss of weight and appetency, weariness, sickness, or emesis. Swelling of the lower appendagesExperiencesConfronting the world of malignant neoplastic disease diagnosing Taking an effectual portion in malignant neoplastic disease intervention Prolonging an optimistic spirit, prolonging physically, decreasing the impact of malignant neoplastic disease on others. The experiences of religious agony and the curative procedure among patient with prostatic malignant neoplastic disease.1.4 Gaps within literatureSystematic reappraisals aim to place, measure and sum up the findings of all relevant single surveies, thereby doing the available grounds more accessible to determination shapers ( Centre for Reviews and Dissemination, 2009, pv ) . In-order to acquire a concluding verification with this subject, a thorough hunt for any old reappraisals or any on-going reappraisals on this subject was searched from different resource centres. The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews ( CDRS ) , which consists of the most dependable up-to-date systematic reappraisals, was searched as the first electronic database. Other resources such as nursing databases, specializer diaries the National research registry and Google bookman hunt was explored to see if any reappraisals, similar to this subject was in procedure or already commenced by any research worker.Chapter Two: AimSystematic reappraisals are sum-ups of all past research on a specific subject. Unlike the traditional attack to reexamining literature, systematic reappraisals utilise the same rules and asperity that is expected of primary research. As the name suggests, they are systematic in their attack and utilize methods that are pre-planned and documented in a systematic reappraisal protocol. The protocol fulfils the same function as a research proposal as each measure in the reappraisal procedure is to the full described ( The Joanna Briggs Institute for Evidence Based Nursing and Midwifery, 2001, An Introduction to Systematic Reviews Changing Practice Vol 2 Iss 1 ) . The systematic reappraisal on the other manus uses a really strict research methodological analysis to seek and restrict prejudice in all facets of the review- in this sense it is close to a primary research- such as a study, where the participants are non people but instead the documents included in the reappraisal. â€Å" Most significantly systematic reappraisals normally aim to reply a specific inquiry or trial a specific hypothesis, instead than merely summarizing â€Å" all there is to cognize † about a peculiar issue † ( Pettigrew and Roberts, 2006 ) or put another manner, â€Å" Systematic reappraisal represents the usage of a standardised indifferent method to synthesize informations from multiple primary surveies † .2.1 Developing a research inquiryAn effectual clinical inquiry for evidence-based nursing includes a concern that person else had studied, focuses on a concern that can be measured or described, and is a concern that is relevant to nursing ( Macnee and McCabe, 2008, p 6 ) . It helps to take the research worker in the way of right way, since the inquiry is based on a specific frame of constituents. These constituents include the population, intercession ( or exposures ) , and outcomes related to the job posed in the reappraisal ( Khalid et al 2009, p 9 ) .For this reappraisal, the PIO construction is used and this deciphers into the three fragments such as the population, issue and the result. The inquiry below is the devised one, after holding with the above considerations.â€Å" What are the life experiences of patient ‘s with prostatic malignant neoplastic disease undergoing intervention? †2.2 AimsTo understand the life experiences of patients with prostatic malignant neoplastic disease undergoing interventions. To do recommendations for nursing pattern in relation to acknowledging coverage and moving upon the study of prostatic malignant neoplastic disease patients.2.3 PlanThis reappraisal is planned to follow the five stairss mentioned below, guaranting the phases of EBN procedure: Develop a clear focussed inquiry to the country of personal involvement and will help to those in the line of work. With the aid of the disconnected inquiry, relevant literature will be searched in an effort to acquire an reply to the focussed inquiry. Critical assessment of the selected documents, to guarantee the quality of the surveies with the aid of checklists. Analyzing the documents in-depth, to come up with consequences and decisions which would act upon the up-to-date work in clinical scenes and a demand to alter for the improvement is let obvious. Finding the cogency and quality of this reappraisal through the taken findings, urging for farther researches and use the consequences within the profession.Chapter Three: CRITERIA FOR CONSIDERING STUDIES WITHIN REVIEWThe inquiry plays an of import function when it comes to seek for relevant documents. Using the formatted attack of the inquiry ; ‘who ‘ , when, what and where, will make a great trade to assist in the hunt for the best available grounds to acquire the reply to the inquiry ( Macnee and McCabe, 2008, p7 ) . Therefore, an inclusion and exclusion standards to the PIO structured inquiry was applied ; and principles provided for the divided classs.3.1 PopulationPatients with prostatic malignant neoplastic disease Based on the inquiry, patients who are diagnosed with prostatic malignant neoplastic disease were taken as the cardinal population group since this is the mark group which needs to be cared. Initially it was thought to unite grownups who are holding prostate malignant neoplastic disease. But on stab of scruples this age group to be smaller and since it is related to a really sensitive, so it was so decided to maintain fixed with patients merely. It will be besides considered to look into a specific prostate malignant neoplastic disease patient, but although sufficient researches were done on most of the common type of prostate malignant neoplastic disease, the aims of the reappraisal were difficult to be met. As a consequence, it was once more distinct to allow it be patients with prostatic malignant neoplastic disease. The same manner, sex differentiating would besides hold meant to do a narrow literature hunt so merely one sex is included in this survey. Merely male patients are included because the reappraisal is on prostate malignant neoplastic disease. No hunt restrictions will be made upon race, ethnicity or faith sine this reappraisal is typically based on the sensitive subject such as prostate malignant neoplastic disease. Premises can non be made sing an person ‘s perceptual experience in relation to cultural, faith and cultural backgrounds ( McSherry, 2006, p 911 ) . Apart from that, this reappraisal might supply to be a valuable penetration to the clinical scenes of those with specific faith and civilization sing prostate malignant neoplastic disease patients.3.2 IssueTreatments Most of the aims in this reappraisal depend on the interventions and patient ‘s perceptual experiences. Furthermore, it will be looking loosely into all countries where interventions are concerned.3.3 Outcome stepsExperiences Since the focal purpose of this reappraisal is to garner patients life experiences or perceptual experiences, these will be gathered largely from the interviews and questionnaires used in the surveies. The result is based chiefly upon the elements in the undermentioned tabular array. Experiences Percepts Adaptations3.4 Types of surveies includedQualitative survey designs are used in the reappraisal since it was taking to happen the life experiences of patients with prostatic malignant neoplastic disease. The common constituents of qualitative surveies such as grounded theory, phenomenology, descriptive anthropology and historical surveies will be included since this types look into the experient live of patients.3.5 Overview of exclusion standardsDepending on the research inquiry, the below mentioned classs are excluded from the hunt class. Childs Female Patients Disabled Patients Age & lt ; 30Quantitative surveiesChapter FOUR: Search SchemeThe literature will be searched in respect to the formed inquiry and the formatted divisions it consists to the footings population, issue and the results, including the specifically developed exclusion standards. Types of surveies which will be included were mentioned in the old chapter. The literature hunt will be searched in a systematical manner guaranting non to exclude any of import survey sing the subject. It will be done following measure by measure method as in Evidence Based Nursing ( EBN ) which is explained as it ‘s processed.4.1 Step one and two ( Development of research Question and placing cardinal words )This is the measure, where the research inquiry is developed. The research inquiry is so explicitly divided harmonizing to structured PIO format. The Question is: â€Å" What are the life experiences of patient ‘s with prostatic malignant neoplastic disease undergoing intervention? † The tabular array below shows the PIO format in which the inquiry was formatted: Phosphorus I Oxygen Patients with Prostate malignant neoplastic disease Treatments Life Experiences4.2 Making equivalent word for cardinal wordsThe above measure identified the cardinal words. Synonyms are made for the key footings, which will heighten the sensitiveness of the hunt increasing the ability to capture a big part of the relevant surveies ( Khalid et al, 2009, p 24 ) . It was difficult to happen the equivalent word related to the cardinal words. However, as mentioned by Khalid et Al ( 2009 ) , the mesh-like footings were easy to happen from the indexing of some relevant surveies ( largely found from the abstract ) , and with the aid of synonym finder of the computing machine. Below table demonstrates the equivalent word for the formatted inquiry. Population ( P ) Issue ( I ) Outcomes ( O ) Patients with prostatic malignant neoplastic disease Treatments Life Experiences Prostate carcinoma Treatments Adaptations Prostate tumor Treatments Percepts4.3 Step four, five and six ( uniting equivalent word with Boolean operators )The equivalent word made in the old tabular array is used to organize a grid, which will be combined to the footings ‘OR ‘ and ‘AND ‘ of the Boolean operators. The purpose of this symbols or wild cards will assist to acquire a wider hunt but within the needful class restricting the unwanted ( Littell et al, 2008 ) the word ‘OR ‘ would unite all the words and footings capturing a constituent of the inquiry giving a big commendation set for each constituent that was searched for ( Khalid et al, 2009, p 26 ) . Then this will be combined with the Boolean ‘AND ‘ to bring forth a set which contains commendations relevant to all the assorted constituents of the inquiry ( Khalid et al, 2009, p 26 ) . This procedure is demonstrated in the tabular array 4.31 below. Table 4.3.1 Combination of cardinal words with Boolean operators Search scheme and database hunt CINAHL Sequence 1 Population/ Patients Sequence 2 Intervention/ Issue Sequence 3 Results Boolean operators AND AND AND OR Prostate malignant neoplastic disease Treatments Experiences OR Patients with prostatic malignant neoplastic disease Treatments Life Experiences OR Prostate carcinoma Treatments Adaptations OR Prostate tumor Treatments Percepts These Boolean operators combined with the cardinal words, is of import to be run electronically with multi databases for a more comprehensive sum-up of the literature ( Littell et al, 2008, p 55 ) . However, the databases relevant for one subject might non be utile for another, since the pick of seeking a relevant database depends on the subject chosen. Therefore, the searching databases will be: Accumulative index to nursing and allied wellness literature ( CINAHL ) Medline Ovid EMBASE British Nursing Index Allied and Complementary Medicine ( AMED ) PsycINFO Apart from the databases, seeking for relevant documents will be done by reading the mention list, cyberspace searching, specialist diary, gray literature, manus searching and besides with in touch with the writers of some research documents merely to see the handiness of unpublished work.Chapter FIVE: Method OF REVIEWThis chapter consists of three subdivisions which would be clarified in item as it is being processed. The stairss include, choice of the documents, measuring of the documents and pull outing the relevant informations which is needed to reply the inquiry. Since research worker prejudice, deficiency of asperity and demand for appraised quality is frequently perplexing with the qualitative documents ( Dixon-woods, 2001, p 765 ) a 2nd research worker will be involved throughout these phases. Suppose if any dissensions or sentiment difference occur, a 3rd party will be included to increase the asperity of the reappraisal. Final determination will be done after coming to an understanding between the three research workers.5.1 Part one- procedure of choosing surveies for the inclusion within the reappraisalThe antecedently made inclusion and exclusion standards will be used as a pilot one and alterations will be made consequently once the existent choice is carried out. Concluding inclusion and exclusion will be done after scrutiny of the full book. However, the tabular array 5.1.2 shows the checklist signifier, which will be used in the choice procedure. However, as mentioned before a 3rd party will be involved if any uncertainness arises among the pickers, to guarantee a just choice heightening the cogency and quality of the documents. In this choice, the documents which had been filtered through the first choice will be more thoroughly read largely with the full text and restrictions will be done consequently with the checklist used as mentioned above with the aid of the research workers.5.2 Part two- Assessment of the methodological quality of the selected documentsAppraisal of survey quality gives an indicant of the strength of grounds provided by the reappraisal, inform the criterion required for the hereafter research, and reply the inquiry whether the surveies are robust plenty to steer intervention, diagnostic or policy determinations ( Centre for Reviews and Dissemination, 2009, p 33 ) . Although assorted tools are available for quality appraisal, the usage of McMaster ‘s qualitative model was thought to be the best. McMaster ‘s model assures to hold the cogency of the conducted research by giving a rational for each and every component of the survey with the needful accounts, therefore offering an efficient frame work for qualitative critical reappraisals ( Letts et al, 2007 ) . A clean transcript of the signifier is provided in the Appendix. This signifier will be used to mensurate the quality of the chosen documents and it will be used to review all the documents in this reappraisal. The quality of this reappraisal will be carried harmonizing to the elements to derive trustiness in qualitative research such as credibleness, transferability, dependableness, confirmability and as besides triangulation which is known to cover multiple beginnings to derive the cogency. These will be run in visible radiation to the McMaster ‘s model. Each component will be individually explored to set up the differences and similarities with in the documents. The advantage of utilizing McMaster ‘s model is, it consist the guidelines of how to make full up the signifier which is convenient and utile for a novice research worker. A clean transcript of the signifier is attached in Appendix.5.3 Part three- Data Extraction StrategyThe consequence of the reappraisal depen ds on the extraction of the information from the primary documents searched. This means taking the relevant information which will reply to the inquiry. This is considered to be an of import measure in methodological analysis, since it has to keep the accurateness of the information every bit good. The extracted informations will be involved with the PIO elements which would largely look out for the Outcomes of it. And this will be helped with the consistent informations extraction signifier which will guarantee to maintain up the cogency. For the intra and inter-rater dependability, the two research workers will be pull outing informations from the included surveies and cross checking of the informations included in the tests with a 3rd research worker at manus to work out the originating struggles between them. Harmonizing to the PIO formatted construction, apart from roll uping information on population and Issue, since the result is the changing portion, colour codifications will be given to each result as subjects. Subjects are differentiated harmonizing to given subheadings, which will assist to maintain the order and evade confusions. Table 5.3.1 shows the informations extraction signifier which will be used for the reappraisal. A. INTRODUCTION OF THE CASE wield Haul Sdn Bhd (PHSB) was actively interlaced in the business of transference of crude deal oil (CPO). It was in a box market because of tall demand in delivering the CPO from the mills to the refineries. In make senseition, overdue(p) to this reason, the exertion players were rewarded with blue comp permite(a) pull ahead al number oneance account which ranged on 35% 45% with low administrative overheads. This disclose created high fight in the market because the industry players execute to operate to a great extent(prenominal) efficaciously in managing terms of gross sales. Further to a greater extent than, oil plagiarism was the major issue which was difficult to be solved and avoided by the industry players. It to a fault caused to significant seismic disturbance and terminationes in this industry. In more in effect(p) extent, the persons affiliated this drawing reasons were non identified and red-handed.This was the reason contributed unspoiled impact to PHSB, as the gross shekels molding was substantially narrowed due to highly change magnitude in extend tolls. The drastic decrease of gross simoleons tolerance certain(p)ly non scarce caused by the individual(a) reason mentioned. PHSB was imbed to incur high salary rendering for CPO shortfall, inconsistency of drivers attendance and high expensed on precaution. PHSB was in critical situation due to the emergence of these challenges. In depth of analysing riddle encountered by PHSB, the CPO bucked by PHSB was justified and take aim to the woodland issue in refineries.Oilene Refineries Sdn Bhd (Oilene), one of the major customers of PHSB, criticised the CPO delivered was frequently short and polluted with water or sludge. The low gauge of CPO stirred the processing plant of Oilene and sp be works had to be performed for cleaning purpose, by shutting down the plant. Because of the serious impact endown by PHSB, the c be of Oilene unconquerable whether not to proceed for the engagement renewal, which would be expired in June 2009. at that placefore, En. Rossly moldiness canvass the operations of PHSB and necessary actions must be interpreted in fix to desexualize the tailor from Oilene.B. COMPANY BACKGROUND treat Haul Sdn Bhd (PHSB) was sacrificeed in 2002, in Taiping, Perak. It was a medium-sized enterprise in the CPO transport business. It had about 200employees, out of which, 80% was in operations, primarily drivers of the comp any(prenominal)s customized tankers. Generally, PHSB was owned and chaired by Datuk S. Najeed, who was the former antique engineer of Ministry of Transport PHSB. The routine operation of PHSB was annihilated by En. Rossly, the CEO and son-in-law of Datuk S. Najeed. Furthermore, this company was pronged into trey major functi ons which included aim cum finance, Human imaging and ecesis functions. And, they were in charged by one-third list personnel, Romsee Rossly, Ramli Ali and Aliah Ibrahim, respectively. En Rossly decided to engage with a steering consultant who was overly a friend of En. Rosslys, to provide rough-and-ready consequences for the issues endangered PHSB.C. ISSUES LEADING TO THE INCREASE OF work out COST IN PHSB1. Rising salary to CPO shortfall and low operate margins 1.1 Issues1.2.1 earnings to the refineriesReferred to the PHSBs two course of studys pecuniary reports (2008-2009), thither were increasing dashs of earnings beingness make by PHSB to the refineries due to the paucity of CPO during the transportation. It showed that until March 2009, PHSB compensated about RM2 jillion, which already summationd more than 33 % from the allowance they make RM1.5 million in 2008. The remuneration equal was on increasing trend which it could be seen from the compensatio n figures from 2006 until 2009. In 2006, the compensation that PHSB had to bear was RM345, 111 and it was emergenced double in 2007, RM645, 222, and then again another two-folded step-upd in 2008, which was at RM1.5 million. PHSB should shoulder the differences in the add up of CPOs that were short-delivered to the refineries. The PHSBs customer, Oilene Refineries Sdn Bhd (Oilene), claimed that the CPO delivered by PHSBs tankers, were less than the recorded quantity in the sales pitch severalise and some of the CPO had been begrime with water or sludge. Compargond to another conveyor hired by Oilene, Tiger Oils Transporter, PHSBs consignment was the most difficult to be processed. Despite the claim by Oilene on the delivered CPO, there was overly a hap that the CPO turned into sludge because of their chemical reply to the changes of temperatures in the tanker. in that locationfore, PHSB should look into this matter as closely. Nevertheless, there was a porta of basketba ll team years contract, between PHSB and Oilene, would be equivocal if these issues were not amicably settled by the PHSB as soon aspossible.1.2.2 stipend to the lagAnother compensation that PHSB had to dressing was regarding the compensation to the staff, such as salaries, allowances and ex-gratia. The compensation criterion recorded until March 2009, cost PHSB close to RM8.03 million, an join on of 7.1 % compargon to 2008. There is a possibility that the increased amount was due too many cheery seasons during the years end. The amount from both compensation lead to the dismount operating margin for the PHSB in 2009 compared to 2008.Operating margin is a measurement of what proportion of a companys revenue is remaining over after paying for variable star costs of carrefourion such as wages, raw materials, etc. A hygienic operating margin is required for a company to be able to pay for its fixed costs, such as inte expect on debt. Low operating margin for the PHSB, mea ning they are not make a good enough realise on every Ringgit that they spending on. It bequeathing peril their bottom line for the pecuniary year.1.2 RecommendationsThere are five possible recommendations for this issue, which are monthly monetary report for the PHSB and to realize an additional staff to observe this abnormalcy in the account.1.2.1 Monthly Financial hideBy implementing the monthly financial report, PHSB could manage their expenses on a monthly basis, frankincense any regularity could be taken care as soon as possible. The standard monthly financial account big bucks includes the following two center reports (University of Michigan, n.d.)i. Statement of Activity (SOA)The SOA reports display the post revenue and expense transactions for an explanation effect (i.e. one month period) for the undertake parameters (e.g. Project/Grant). By presenting the SOA on the monthly basis, PHSBs management could complete(a)ly monitor and canvass their activitie s for that particular month. If there is any unnecessary activity, the management could take disciplinary action before it could jeopardise their operations.ii. unprocessed Pay Register (GPR)The GPR report is a record of each(prenominal) employees payroll check salaries andallowances. By having this report every month, the management ordain be able to tell apart the compensation made to the employees on a monthly basis. And, they exit be notified on the additional or irregularities payment that the PHSB made during that particular month.1.2.3 Close Monitoring on the Tankers TemperatureTo head and educate PHSBs drivers on the measurement of the tanker temperatures in order to avoid any chemical reception which it could turn the liquid form of CPO to sludge. PHSB in addition ingest to invest more on the reliable tankers to keep the CPOs in a suitable temperature.1.2.4 Trucksecures SystemPHSB w deriveethorn install tankers with the Trucksecure System. It is a unique, simple, non-invasive strategy send away(predicate) loss can be discover from either the main or vicarious tank, whether taken through and through the dismiss filler neck, sender hole or from puncturing the tank. 1 of the main chores encountered by haulers is set uping lessened but regular amounts of stolen fuel. The Trucksecure system has the capability to measure marginal fuel loss to combat this problem with the additional summarise ahead for the operator to detect suspected interior theft covertly via an optional GSM school text message. By installing this system, PHSB give be alerted on any attempt to siphon or steal the CPO adjacently. Security social club forget be alerted as well and they ordain investigate that particular tanker. This depart decrease the possibility of siphoning and stealing of CPOs.1.2.5 agreement Inventory LevelsPHSB have to cooperate with Oilene in implementing the balance inventory levels in checking and manage the CPO. Both companies could review the consignment through the purchase orders, receipt and credit notes, elapse notes as well as speech notes which all of it go out be formalize by representatives from both companies. To follow-up on this system, both companies could have a thorough check on their inventory records. By implementing this method, PHSB could avoid the possibility of receiving less amount of CPOs than stated in the delivery orders.1 High oil pilferage1.2.3.1. Issues2.1.1 Siphoning caused to high(prenominal) direct cost incurred to refineries In the transportation industry, the conveyer belt is required to bear for any losings incur during its consignment. The equivalent practice use to PHSB, hence, it had to reserve huge sum of cash as the compensation to the refineries. In fact, the management be that many of the loaded tankers were not delivered to the refineries, but were found to be toss out at the roadside by the lordly drivers. In addition, the siphoning reference alike c ontributed to the high compensation paid to the refineries. As per the case reported, the compensation cost per dollar bulk hit at 7.7% in 2008, and increased to 8.3% as reported in radical of deuce-ace billet of in have it off statement in 2009. The increase of compensation cost had led to narrower of gross utility margin as it was a part of cost of sales.2.1.2 Increase of return premiumsPHSB took a good practice where it mitigate the consignment take chances to third party, the insurer. PHSB had bragging(a) track records because many cases slide byed to be the tankers collapse accustomed by the drivers. The insurer, Allianz Insurance aptitude not be responsible on the discard tankers. Moreover, it brought to higher operation risk of PHSB. Thus, there get out be a ground for the insurer to charge greater insurance premiums to cover the inconsistency of operation in PHSB. And, the cost of sales of PHSB go away be risen significantly due to the Goods-In-Transit ins urance is incurred directly to operation in the nature of transportation.3.2. Recommendations2.12.2.3 Implementation of Fleet heed System (FMS)In the view of Mukhriz Mohd, FMS is a must to be enforced in PHSB. This system allows PHSB to minimise the risks associated with tankers in consignments, reform the operation efficiency and flinch in compensation cost. With this FMS, siphoning cases volition be drastically swerved because the management of PHSB is able to detect the delivery locations of the tankers. In addition, it helps to reduce the fuel consumption as well. The problem of abandoned tankers will be eliminated as the drivers will be red-handed withserious punishments. Therefore, FMS is spanking to be installed as PHSB operates in delivery serves, despite the high cost of implementation. For the greater reduction in cost of sales and amend preventive action, PHSB is strongly certified to enforce accordingly.2.2.4 Serious disciplinary actions will be taken against d rivers As the increase of insurance premiums was due to the irresponsible drivers, actions must be taken to penalise them. This dissolvent is made to reduce or even eliminate such cases to be happened repetitively. Ex-gratia will be deducted for the drivers who are identified to yield on wrong-doing. In more serious extent, if the drivers ignore the disciplinary actions, termination of service will be given to the drivers. This solution whitethorn not contribute to immediate financial benefits, however, the insurer will reduce the insurance premiums in future when the abandoned tankers cases decline. In other words, it contributes to greater take in margin of PHSB in long term. 2 High Absenteeism/ Driver Shortage3.2 IssuesAs per reported by Ramli Ali, Human Resource Manager of PHSB, the company had the problem on driver shortage due to better volunteer from larger company. The company similarly encountered issue on high absenteeism of drivers. The problem occurred because of i rregular avenues and away from home for a long period, caused the drivers tend to search for a better jobs or compensations.4.4.1. Unattractive earnings packageAccording to Ramli Ali, PHSB was unable to offer an attractive remuneration package to their drivers. With more attractive remunerations offered by big companies, drivers tend to bite the bait, therefore, PHSB needed to hire and train new drivers more frequently. This activity had made increment in the Administration and public presentation Expenses for year 2009. The pilferage activities are recognized to happen during year end. This was identified that most of the drivers more likely needed money during this period oftime, hence, the temptation siphoning the CPO was high.4.2.1.4.4.2. Irregular routes and idiotic order of businessRamli also declared that irregular routes and tight scheduling were the factors of drivers high absenteeism and shortage. By having this problem, it has affected the feature of operation se rvice where refineries claimed that the CPO had not been delivered on time. Lack of drivers means that same driver might be ladder several deliveries. Each delivery requires them to tick away from home for a some days. Thus, some drivers might not get well rested and home away more than they supposed to be.4.4. Recommendations4.5.3. Offering attainable remuneration packagePHSB needs to contemplate giving year-end bonuses to the drivers in order to earn their loyalties. Hence, this will help to reduce drivers shortage as well as absenteeism problem that troubled PHSB end-to-end the year 2009. PHSB can emerge good remuneration package where year-end bonuses given to the drivers and staff. The bonuses will be much lower than the compensation cost that PHSB is currently bearing. PHSB can as well offer rewards to drivers with satisfaction attendance by giving performance incentives by year end. These incentives also can be applied to those who have delivered CPO as per acquire Ord er or sludge-free. This will wish to lower the absenteeism percentage.4.5.4. Realistic SchedulePHSB shall also consider giving annual leave found on Malaysian industrial Development Authoritys guidelines which is normally provided with annual salary increment that is deliberate based on a certain percentage of the basic salary and performance. PHSB shall come out with more realistic schedule which drivers are allowed to have some rest after their long journey. PHSB may as well to schedule more guardedly to avoid continual shifts. This may be seen as increment in PHSBs expenses but in long term, it will help to reduce expenses in staff training as per stated in Administrative and Operating Expenses table. With new remuneration package and realistic schedule, drivers can give their greater commitments on their shifts, as a result, PHSB shall be able to enhance their transportation service. Consequently, PHSB will acquire higher profit since the customersare satisfied with the serv ice provided, and indirectly, PHSB will able to expand to a bigger network.3 High Cost of aliment4.3 IssuesBeing a logistical service supplier specialised in transporting CPO, it is significant to emphasise on the upkeep of its tankers. Indeed, PHSBs predicament is also related to this matter. As we have gone through the case carefully, we have identified that PHSB is incurring high cost of tending. The maintenance costs incurred for the three quarters of years 2009 and 2008 are RM 5.5 million and RM 2,3 million respectively. Thus, PHSB faced a 143.8 % increase in maintenance cost for 2009 compared to 2008* (estimated based on average calculation of total maintenance cost for 3 quarters of the accounting period). Marginal planned cost accounting or flexible uninflected cost planning and accounting studies by Sharman (2003) can be referred to understand the cost of sales in the case of PHSB better. down the stairs are the possible root causes of this predicament.4.4.5 No regu lar upkeep and maintenance of the tankers. It was found that PHSB did not regulate the maintenance of its tankers. The tankers were only if sent for service and fixs when the drivers complained of breakdown. At times, the damages occurred were severe, hence resulting in high cost of repairs. 4.4.6 No standardised administrative mechanism.PHSB is lack of a standardised administration mechanism. At the moment, the perform vehicle and driver tryst and scheduling are done manual of armsly. Hence, a lot of time is wasted in the process. The situation get worse if there were any absentee, as the delivery route and allocation of drivers need to be re plan.4.2 Recommendations4.3.1 schedule maintenance program.PHSB should practice a more systematic method of honoring its tankers. It should ensure each of its tankers have gone total check-up, let say in a two weeks basis before be operational for transporting scheduling. As we are concerned, PHSB is a lilliputian company with certain co nstraints. Its annual gross profit margin is just around 10% over the years. Thus, we understand it will be unable to spare particular(a) cost especially if it wanted to establish an in house maintenance initiation for its tankers. However, PHSB could overcome this problem by out-sourcing maintenance services from the market. A yearly contract with the service provider will assist PHSB to upkeep its tankers within a minimal cost.PHSB could use its power of negotiation to get good deals from the service provider for this mean. Moreover, PHSB would have an option to discontinue the contract and keep apart a new service provider in case of dissatisfaction too. Thus, PHSB will be able to cut sales cost, add competitive value to its company and last increase operating profit.4.3.2 Computerised Scheduling. It was found that manual scheduling method utilised by PHSB delays time. Hence, a computerised scheduling method will be very convenient. This method will help PHSB to organise deliv ery routes, driver allocations, delivery durations, maintenance breaks and forecast the total cost of sales regarding this matter systematically. close to of Transportation Management System (TMS) softwares that are widely being used by major third party logistic (3PL) companies worldwide include RoadNet Technologies, TMW Systems and Precision. PHSB could employ any of these softwares too, to manage its operation and administration mechanisms. Moreover, this method does not need an expert to take out or additional staffs as it could be done by single person who knows how to operate computer and beaten(prenominal) with data entering. Besides, PHSB could always acquire consultations and trainings from the system provider if it faces any difficulties related to the software. The quality of CPO transported and the safety of the drivers who work for PHSB are greatly influenced by the condition of the tankers. These aspects would affect PHSBs entire operation processes if not tackled im mediately. Therefore, we call up the recommendations given will hinder such quandary plus contribute to lower direct cost of sales in the future. Consequently, PHSB will be able to increase its operating profit.D. CONCLUSIONSAs displayed on the financial statements of PHSB, the loss of RM 1.8 millionmarked as the worst performance ever throughout seven years back. This situation shall not be repeated if PHSB wishes to remain its competitiveness and roles in the industry. From our analysis, we strongly believe the compensation cost to refineries is the Achilles Heel of PHSB operations. As mentioned above, 8.3% of turnover was solely contributed to compensation expenses. If PHSB is able to manage properly on the direct cost, the reduction portion of the compensation cost will be the additional gains to gross profit margin of PHSB. And, it surely remains PHSB at the higher competitiveness in the industry. However, the key personnel of PHSB must aggressively review on the inconsistenc ies of the financial reports. The financial reports shall be utilised effectively, as these reports provide a good avenue for the management to line the weaknesses in the operations, although the information is historical. It is reasonable that salaries and allowances of drivers are the leading cost component in direct cost, as the drivers are the valet capital to PHSB. However, it should not be on increasing trend which the gap is bigger than the increasing turnover. Relevant of remuneration package is powerful to retain and attract more human capital. The relevance remuneration package would be in term of performance-based incentives. As this variable reward is individualised, drivers will be more motivated to work disciplinarily in PHSB. Although it will affect the gross profit margin, this direct cost is better to attend to the benefits of internal employees, which will improve the employees loyalty, rather than as the compensation cost to refineries. Besides, the upkeep and maintenance must be soundly monitored. As mentioned in the case, most of the tankers are fully depreciated. In other words, these venerable tankers may lead to higher possibility of breaking down during delivery of PHSB. It is considered cost inefficient when high maintenance cost incurred repeatedly because it will cost a boom to PHSB. As a good recommendation, the tankers must be properly scheduled for regular maintenance checks. This is because preventive maintenance can avoid high repair and replacement costs. Last but not least, the effect from the inefficient operation of PHSB leads to higher inventories held by Oilene. This is because of the inconsistencies delivery provided by PHSB. This circumstance further indicates that Oilene will have shortsighted inventory forecasting. The management of Oilene may fuck off difficult to manage the inventory, as PHSB failed toconsign the accurate and planned quantities. And hence, Oilene is required to maintain high level of inventorie s. Furthermore, the low quality of CPO, which often contaminate by the drivers, also raises an impact on Oilenes inventories. Therefore, higher operation cost will be incurred by Oilene. Besides, Oilene will encounter the bottlenecks issue when the inventories level is high. Production capacity of Oilene may not require huge volume of inventories in short period of time. Also, the product under demand will be another constraint which worsening the bottlenecks. As such, the identified inconsistencies of the financial statements shall be communicate with solutions proposed. These recommendations may contribute to higher combine and possibility of PHSB to secure the service contract with Oilene. With tight monitoring and reviewing on the financial data, PHSB will be operated more consistently and achieve more competitive advantages for greater future growth.ReferencesUniversity of Michigan. The main question that this radical deals with is whether the current moral decay washbasin be attributed to the withering relationship between the fam ily and the church. This paper looks at various materials, both spiritual and secular in an tone-beginning to answer this question. It particularly argues that even though there argon some, separate factors which depose be attributed to the societal moral decay, the study factor is the deterioration of the family in the church. The church has served very important function in the conjunction, a function which is today fit obsolete. The family on the separate hand has ceased to match the role which it was meant to play traditionally and hence, children fire up with loose determine which manufacture them reverse delinquent youths with no restraint. Families are likewise so much mantled into looking for sustenance in this conservative era to the extent that parents have forget that it is their responsibility to pass raise to their kids. truly a few(prenominal) people no eight-day have time to go to church as most parents work overtime. These, together with some othe r factors, have contributed to the decaying morals deep down the purchase order. It digest therefore be said that the failure of families to actively take part in church has partly led to this phenomenon. Men should seek the right steering of carrying on their duties as this world belongs to God and he did not leave men to stray. He chose the institution of the church to dispatch the necessary and vital moral codes to the human race.Church as a charter to HumansGod chose the church as an instrument through which he can do His work on existence during the time between the first and arcsecond coming of rescuer, a period tag with Christs physical absence. The church is seen as the body of Christ on Earth and is consequently meant to complete the work that he begun in his physical body.As such, the church is the messenger of God on Earth meant to spread the gospel of Christ to the human race. However, in recent times, the human race is characterized by anti-church thinking as many people who claim to be Christians have reverseed the church. The impact has been entangle especially in families. The basic human institution is suffering now more than ever. There are change magnitude incidences of get rid of fathers and single mothers, abandoned children and increased rate of divorce. People have moved off from the church. galore(postnominal) individuals think in term of themselves and Jesus, a relationship that excludes the Church. Others on the other hand view organized organized worship as a form of evil. virtually modern day prophecy teachers view the church as some kind of emergency measure that has been put by God until he institutes his true Kingdom. none of these views is save correct. The importance of the church cannot be overlooked. It is the kingdom of God in the present time and every individual moldiness actively recruit in it. It has been discover that individuals who actively participate in church are healthier than individuals who scarce participate. These individuals accompany high moral standards as compared to those who oftentimes do not participate in church. The lifestyle of Christians encourages healthy habits and attitudes which have commanding offsprings on the overall morality. When one develops a Christian attitude, it runs touchy for damaging emotions to bend his or her way of life. It is extend to pass that the task of Jesus was to draw men towards God and thus the church was to relate in this task. The teachings of Jesus were of high moral worth and these are what have been taught by the churches. As such, it is important that every family goes to church so as to acquire those value that Jesus Christ worked to reveal to human beings. With a negative attitude towards the church, it composes difficult for any moral principles to be furthered as men are naturally disposed towards evil. However, there are some arguments to the effect that men have the capacity to be moral regardless of w hether they go to church or not.Church and Family Historical scopeA new pattern of relationship between religion and family was ushered in by the reformation. It was required that an individual make a voluntary and personal decision to boob the official doctrines of a particular church and to take part in its positive ritual instead of being seen as part of a religion apparently because one is a member of a particular family, village or ethnical group. Protestantism thus brought about a shift from company cult to that which one automatically belonged to a religious community by virtue of birth. These were constituted through and by the association and congregation of individuals in reply to religious messages. There were risks that this associational sit around posed, both for the family and the church. Voluntary associations are often energising since people adopt and abandon group loyalties. Individuals may opt not to join the church which may egress into members splitti ng and forming sects. The family thus lost the assurance that their children would be part of the same religious system as the parents and other openhanded relatives. These worries are more intense in the present time among the families that still participate actively in church. Both the church and the family thus devised a vulgarly near sharing of roles. The parents role was to socialize their children so that they may be able to make personal decision for Christ and also to encourage one another in living out their own religious commitment. The role of the church on the other hand was to aid the family in this inclination by supplying the structures and activities. The nuclear family was thus the mode through which protestant voluntarism was filtered instead than through a larger grade or ethnic grouping.A mutual relationship thus existed between the church and the family inwardly the protestant community. The churches were to aid families to have healthy relationships and t o raise well make grow and religious children. Families on the other hand were expected to teach the children the doctrines of the church. This mutual relationship that existed between the family and the church was formalized in the Pretest ant America during the 1950s in the theory of Talcott Parsons.According to Parsons, the modern fraternity had grown to become institutionally identify with the public fulfilling much of the roles that were traditionally under the study of the family. The basic role of the family had become expressive satisfying emotional require of its members, training the succeeding generation of the required values and discipline and comforting its members from the foiling got from the public arena. The familys childrearing practice wills the cordial model or plausibility structure which enables the children to become productive members of the society if these practices are internalized. Religion is thus assigned the post of home in the modern times und erstood as the abiding tail of an individuals affection alternatively than the physical space of the household. Love, expression, intimacy, subjectivity, irrationality, morality, spirituality and religion are all found within the sphere of home.According to Parson, the Church no longer had any direct influence on the values of the larger society. It could however assert indirect influence in aiding the parents to socialize their children and to come upon emotional felicity with each other (Parsons, 1960). This role is applicable in the modern society with its vast impersonal government and industrial bureaucracies. The study function of the church and the family is thus to furnish a lead in ascertaining a moral and just society through their teachings and practices. These theories have however been questioned by social scientists. Social scientists are doubtful of whether values and valued behavior are communicate to the next generations by the church through the family. The y also doubt whether family and churches should mediate community and intimacy in a dynamic and large scale society. This conception of church and church as havens from the contemporary society leads to three powerful by jerry-built conclusion. First, that modernity destroys the community morally second, that the family and church have not been permeated by the larger cultural reorganizing process and third, that the family and the church provide protection from the negative consequences of change (Green et al, 1823). The family and the church have dramatically changed according to these critics and the major question is the extent to which they will take place to satisfy this mutual bargain of defend and passing on religious values and beliefs. The family has undergone dramatic changes over the last few decades. Today, the family is not what it used to be traditionally. Many couples are living together without marriage, many children are being raised by single parents, there is an increase in the rate of divorce and many individuals hardly ever live in families. Couples are having fewer children. Married women with young children are also promising to be working outside the home and quite a large percentage of preschool children are being taken care of outside the home. The marriage age has also gone up with quite a majority opting not to espouse at all. Most families are being headed by single parents, in most cases the mother. These have been attributed to the effects of industrial enterprise and modernity. In simple terms, the family of today is unalike from the family of the past decades. The question that one is rally to ask is the extent to which the church has vary to these changes. This issue is complicated further by the fact that churches have also changed. The increased institutional fragmentation of the American society and the emergence of expressive individualism in the United States culture are among the causes of these changes (Conner, 2007). other occurrence is the second de-establishment where each sphere of institution had developed its own set of normative system. Religion has thus become a means of personal fulfillment and integration owing to this isolation from any meaningful political, economic or moral responsibility within the public sphere. The power and authority of the church over the society has been lost (Carter, 2001). It has also lost its power and authority over individuals in the society and even over the people within it, the majority of whom can be set forth as in the church but not of the church. The church has thus become an institution of service which functions to help individuals achieve authenticity and transcendental subjectivity.Very few American Protestants have complete fealty to a specific denomination. It has been found that individuals who marry and get children are more likely to increase their religious participation. Marriage may neutralize other factors which may result in disaffiliation. With this regard, the church and the family may be considered to have some form of get together. This link may help in breeding a moral society through active participation in church. Every individual belongs to a particular family and if these families can adopt the teachings of the church then moral decay cannot reach the levels that are seen today.

They dont delight in suffering.)Anal Stage: This stage stars from age to logical and lasts unto age three, at this age children learn control over elimination of bodily waste. Toilet training becomes an important factor as proper training from parents lead to children becoming confident and productive whereas too lenient or too harsh training leads to a disorganised and obsessive personality respectively. . )Phallic Stage: Lasting from three to six years of age, successful resolution of this stage leads to internalisation of morality whereas fixation leads to an aggressive, vain and dominating sexuality in the future.Consciousness is distinguished by a unique type of unity, on account of which it doesnt withstand gaps of any type.References: 1. ) Slater, Charles L. It would currently be useful to spell worn out precisely conceptions of the idea of the unconsciousness in conditions of consecutive degrees of independence.Social and cultural influences arent completely outside the persons reach.Freuds influence is still huge and pervasive.Take home message Freudian theory ought to be extended a postharvest fresh appearance.
